Reflective Journaling Week 4

Workflows stuck with me the most this week, but I feel as though I need a lot more practice in order to better utilize them. During our workflow design assignment, I struggled at times putting ideas into the context of a workflow, especially not knowing much about the users I was designing for. It was a good exercise for me to put in that position, since it is so common in the field of design.

As an undergrad I made use of user personas throughout user-centered web design coursework, so I enjoyed revisiting that subject. I think it’s easier than people realize to fall into the trap of designing with personal interests instead of for your target audience. They are an invaluable resource to employ while trying to stay in the mindset of designing for user, and not the self, and a tool I look forward to using more in the future.
